WQR 4 - Bailey Turns back Clock at Hednesford
The second part of the Midland weekender saw 33 cars decamp to the hills - Hednesford Hills to be precise, as a somewhat controversial all in format was deployed much to the chagrin of BriSCA officials, drivers and fans alike.
The first of those heats was won by Steven Burgoyne (674) who continued his impressive start to his F2 career from the yellow grade. The second heat won went the way of Stoxradio favourite Richard Clubley (665). Come the final, only 23 cars competed as the rain came down and made the track different. Chaos ensued in the opening laps as both Neil Hooper (676) and Ant Riley (282) both went by the wayside. Jordan Thackra (324) led with the early laps, pursued by Clubley and veteran Paul Bailey (297). Bailey took over before half way and as the weather got worse, a wily drive turned into an emphatic win for Bailey, who at 64 years of age, proved there was certainly life in the old dog!
